General Chiropractic

What is it?

Chiropractic care encompasses a variety of approaches, techniques, and therapies – including traditional chiropractic adjustments. For Dr. Pflug, the goal for every patient is the same: providing short-term relief and finding long-term solutions to normalize and naturalize movement.

Who can benefit?

Anyone of any age can benefit from Dr. Pflug’s chiropractic care. Dr. Pflug takes the time to understand each individual patient and re-evaluates during every follow-up visit to ensure proper progress is made.

How does it work?

Chiropractic care typically begins in Dr. Pflug’s office and treatment room. Evaluation and re-evaluation throughout the treatment process allows Dr. Pflug and the patient to form a plan designed to address all the issues causing pain or loss of mobility. Often, Dr. Pflug utilizes his workout studio for treatment and demonstration of self-care therapies.

FIRE CUPPING

What is it?

Cupping, in general, is a therapy utilizing suction to treat a wide array of issues. Fire cupping simply takes advantage of fire to increase the effectiveness of the treatment. Using heated cups, Dr. Pflug stimulates the affected areas to bruise (without breaking the skin) the underlying soft tissue, promoting and focusing healing.

Who can benefit?

Anyone experiencing pain and/or mobility issues in the spine or anywhere from the base of the neck to top of the hips. Also, great for problems with posture and tension around the shoulder blades. A reasonable tolerance for pain is necessary, as this technique does involve purposefully “bruising” the affected area(s).

How does it work?

Fire cupping creates a “negative pressure” inside the heated cup, helping to seal the cup to the skin. The negative pressure then pulls the skin up into the cup, creating a noticeable bruise. The bruising focuses the body’s natural healing processes on the specific area, guiding new, oxygen-rich blood to previously unreachable tissue. Furthermore, the muscle tissue is encouraged by the process – and subsequent healing – to grow, allowing for increased mobility and more natural (and less painful!) movement.

Muscle Scraping

What is it?

Muscle scraping – or gua sha – is an ancient Chinese method for addressing pain and mobility issues. Utilizing a massage tool, Dr. Pflug stimulates the affected muscles to bruise (without breaking the skin) the underlying soft tissue, promoting and focusing healing.

Who can benefit?

Anyone experiencing pain and/or mobility issues in the neck, shoulders, arms, legs or upper back. A reasonable tolerance for pain is also necessary, as this technique does involve purposefully bruising the affected area(s).

How does it work?

By scraping the skin over a problem area, Dr. Pflug “bruises” the underlying muscle tissue.

Personal Training

What is it?

Dr. Pflug has a strong familiarity with “the gym” – both personally and professionally – and thoroughly enjoys working one-on-one with clients. Yes – you’ll burn calories and build muscle, but that isn’t the primary focus. The ultimate goal, as with all of Dr. Pflug’s therapies, is encouraging a natural range of motion.

Who can benefit?

Anyone interested in personal training. Often, patients who have found relief from their initial issues take advantage of personal training with Dr. Pflug to continue the beneficial relationship they’ve developed and prevent further complications.

How does it work?

Rather than acting as just a coach or cheerleader, Dr. Pflug seeks to guide his trainees in exercises and stretches relevant to them. Whether introducing something new or encouraging proper technique for a well-known exercise, Dr. Pflug is there to ensure clients are safely maximizing their body’s potential.
